The short version
Jharis is a shop-through-charity platform. To pay donations from our affiliate commission, we need to know that a purchase happened — but not who you are, what you bought, or anything else. We don't run advertising trackers and we don't sell your data.
What the website collects
The Jharis website itself is largely static. It does not run third-party analytics or set advertising cookies. A small client-side event log exists in the codebase (track()) for development; today it only writes to window.__jharisEvents and the browser console in development. It does not transmit data to any third party. If a real analytics provider is added later, this page will be updated and any required consent flow will ship before it goes live.
Affiliate cookies on partner sites
When you click through to a partner merchant from Jharis, that merchant — and the affiliate network they use — may set a cookie on the merchant's own domain to attribute your purchase. This is standard affiliate-program mechanics and is governed by the merchant's and the affiliate network's own privacy policies, not ours.
Outbound links
Outbound links to partner merchants and to kiva.org use rel="noopener noreferrer sponsored" for merchant links and rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" for charitable references. Once you leave Jharis, the destination's own privacy policy applies.
Loan ledger data
The borrower names, partner names, and loan amounts shown on the site come from a Kiva export of the loans Jharis has funded. They are public Kiva loan information — Jharis does not republish anything that wasn't already public on kiva.org. If you are a borrower or partner and would prefer not to be listed, contact Kiva to have a record removed and it will roll out of our export.
Changes
If this policy changes meaningfully, the "Last reviewed" date above will change.
